Our professional private dog training obedience programs offer comprehensive and convenient training solutions for your furry companion. Our programs include obedience and behavior modification that build on a foundation of obedience and address any specific undesired behavior. In addition to teaching basic commands such as "sit," "down," "come," "stay," "heel," and "leave it" under low distractions, we can also incorporate higher distractions and provide intermediate, and advanced obedience training to take your dog's skills to the next level.

A basic understanding of obedience is critical for any dog to live successfully with humans and other animals. K9SF offers a number of obedience programs that can be tailored to suit your needs, your dog's abilities, your time-frame and your budget. Most of our classes are offered as private one-on-one sessions either in our Minneapolis office or at your home but we also have a number of Board & Train or group class offerings as well.
Level 1 - Basic Obedience: The Fundamentals
Our 4-session Level 1 course is the perfect choice for dog owners who want to establish a solid foundation of basic obedience with their furry companions. This one-on-one private instruction program is tailored to suit dogs of all breeds and sizes, and is ideal for dogs who are new to training or have minimal training experience. During the sessions, we will work on commands such as "sit," "stay," "come," "heel" and "off" in a low-distraction environment, as well as on-leash handling and basic manners. Whether you have a new puppy, an adult dog, or a senior dog, this program will provide you with basic skills and tools you need to communicate effectively with your dog.

Level 2 - Intermediate Obedience: Building on the Basics
Take your dog's obedience to the next level with this 8-session, private training course. Our experienced trainers will work with you and your dog to strengthen commands and improve focus, attention, and reliability during each hour-long class. With a focus on individual progress, each session will take place in our office (or your home) and will help you build a strong bond with your dog through effective communication and training.

Level 3 - Advanced Obedience: Communication & Consistency
Our 12-session Level 3 course is great for dogs that have zero training, are easily distracted, or need extra time to learn commands. This one-on-one private training program is tailored to meet you and your dog's specific obedience goals. Our experienced trainers will work with you to gradually increase the distance and duration your dog will respond to commands, until they respond consistently under high distractions. Whether you have a puppy, adult dog, or senior dog, this program will provide you with the skills and tools necessary for effective communication.

Behavior modification is the process of eliminating or reducing undesirable dog behaviors to a manageable level. These undesirable behaviors could be things such as jumping on guests, destruction of property, resource guarding or aggression towards people and/or other animals. Through a process of conditioning and development of new behaviors, K9SF will work with you and your dog to identify the reasons for the problematic behavior and outline a plan to correct (or manage) the issues.

Our 16-session Advanced Behavior Modification Program is designed for dog owners who are looking to address complex and persistent behavioral concerns. Our experienced trainers will work with you and your dog to address a wide range of problems, including severe aggression, phobias, and extreme reactivity. Utilizing advanced custom training techniques, you and your dog will learn to communicate effectively and establish new, more appropriate behaviors. Each private session will be tailored to your dog's individual progress, providing the one-on-one attention and support necessary for success. Our goal is to empower you with the skills and confidence necessary to tackle even the most challenging behavioral issues.

Board & Train
We offer multiple obedience and behavior modification Board & Train programs, tailored to suit the specific needs of your dog, through partnerships with local dog boarding facilities. When you drop your dog off at one of our boarding partners, they will be picked up and trained during the week by our experienced K9SF trainers. Most packages include dog socialization on the play floor each weekend (subject to an initial boarding assessment). After their stay, you'll receive one free in-office post-boarding training session to show you what your dog has learned.

This group dog training course is designed to help you and your furry companion achieve basic obedience and prepare for the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen ( AKC CGC) Test. Our semi-private format offers a small class size, with a maximum of 5 attendees, to ensure that each participant receives personalized instruction and support. Click here for our class schedule.

- Learn the skills and behaviors required for the CGC Test
- Develop and reinforce obedience commands, such as sit, stay, come, and heel

This package is an ideal option for those who want a balanced plan with built-in flexibility.

The "Well-Rounded Dog" intermediate Mix & Match package allows our experienced trainers to work with you and your dog to identify the behavior issues that are most important to you and create a personalized training plan to address them. We'll teach you effective techniques and provide you with the tools necessary to improve your dog's behavior and obedience.

"Zero to Hero" is our ultimate Mix & Match package that will take you and your dog up through a transformative training experience over the course of 16 sessions. During this program, you'll spend extensive time with our K9SF trainers to hone in on specific behavioral issues or obedience areas where your dog needs extra attention.
